Shoes We Love: These Boots Are Made For Walkin!

Posted by Lindsay on Monday Oct 26, 2009

I recently visited Chicago which was quite a change from what I am used to here in Charlotte! Not only was it a bit cooler, I also never got in a car to go anywhere. This is quite unusual for me as Charlotte is primarily a driving city, so you can bet I was curious about the footwear choices of others.

Walking block upon block, navigating through crowds, and scaling slippery train station stairs is pretty much not doable in heels. In fact, I would strongly advise against it! I definitely saw a lot of bad/boring footwear choices, but some girls did manage to look quite cute in their walking attire. The main choice I saw were flat riding style boots – and it was also the choice I decided to don for most of the weekend!

I wore my favorite flat boots, the BCBG Petler boot in black (now sold out but available in suede!) and they were quite comfortable! Well, I will admit I was pretty sore from all that walking!

A good amount of the girls were wearing styles very similar to this. A similar style we carry at Heels.com is the Steven by Steve Madden Inragee:

We should also be getting in quite a few more similar styles in the next month or so.

What are your primary choices for walking shoes? Do you gravitate to sneakers or Uggs? Or do you try to up the style factor?

Star Shoe Styles: Fergie Rocking Out in Fergie Shoes!

Posted by Lindsay on Tuesday Oct 20, 2009

Fergie is known for being passionate about her namesake shoe line. She is frequently spotted wearing her own styles! Unlike a lot of celebrities who have their own lines, she is not shy to rock her own shoes, even on the red carpet!

Recently she was spotted at the launch of Jeepney Music at the Ecco Lounge. I came across hers pics today on Perez Hilton, touting her partnership with Avon, and I immediately recognized her shoes – the Fergie Disco sandal in Silver!

I absolutely love this style, and it looks great with her outfit!

What do you think of Fergie’s futuristic silver-themed look?

Trends We Love: Mad For Plaid!

Posted by Lindsay on Friday Sep 18, 2009

One of the biggest upcoming trends for Fall, is plaid! As we have mentioned before, this is a really fun trend that is super easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. Whether you want to go full out or just add a pop of plaid, its a fun way to bring some of the Upper East Side school-girl to your look.

With Gossip Girl returning, I have been feeling the itch for some plaid in my closet. Although our favorite high school socialites are no longer gracing the halls of Constance and most likely, we will not be seeing much of the traditional plaid uniforms, I believe the Gossip Girl look is still going strong if Anna Sui’s collection for Target is any clue.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the flannel lumber-jack variety of plaid that has been found everywhere for a few seasons. However, I realize a lot people like this look, but I like things that are a bit more feminine. I generally gravitate to the exact school-girl plaid that my sister, like our favorite Gossip Girls, wore to Catholic school everyday.

Some of my favorite picks for incorporating plaid into your wardrobe:

f21dress

Forever 21 Silk Plaid Slip Dress

mj top

Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Plaid Tee

Harajuku Lovers Airlie Pump in Blue Plaid

VS Coat

Victoria’s Secret VIA Double Breasted Wool Coat

Gap Plaid Dress

Gap Plaid Shift Dress

Delia’s Rocket Dog Memories Plaid Flat

Soia & Kyo Katrina Plaid Coat

Delias Marisa Plaid Dress

Betsey Johnson Kottes Heel in Red Tartan Plaid

Pair any of these fresh items with a preppy boyfriend blazer, a sweet cardi, colorful tights, and/or a headband, and you are sure to be on-trend for fall – as well as sporting one of my all-time favorite looks!

Shoes We Love: Boots for Fall! Yay!

Posted by Lindsay on Friday Sep 11, 2009

Happy Friday!

It feels like I’m finally catching my breath from Vegas! Took me long enough, huh?

Like Suleika, I am so excited for Fall stuff I can’t stand it! I am loving all the boots we’ve had coming in – we’ve got a lot of thigh-high styles and I know that’s what a lot of y’all are looking for – just got an email from Rachel Zoe this morning about how every girl needs a pair.

Personally though, I am just looking for a nice pair of black boots that can be semi-formal or casual. Some of my top picks:

Jessica Simpson Angie Boot

Guess Teddie Boot

DV by Dolce Vita Wendall Boot

And tons more on their way!

I thought it was interesting listening to industry insiders talk about thigh boots – they would say, “She has a normal boot but this style gives her a reason to get something new!”

While I do believe that the statement is true, I honestly don’t really like it. Maybe I’m just bitter because the thigh-high trend won’t work for me, but I feel like making a great classic version of a shoe every one needs is always a win-win. It’s fun to do something new and fresh, but sometimes the staple is where it’s at. I guess I’m just in a boring mood today ;)

Heels.com Insider: We Hosted the Stiletto Girls Meetup!

Posted by Lindsay on Friday Jul 24, 2009

So last Thursday, we packed up some of our best shoes and headed down to Apostrope Lounge for the monthly Stiletto Girls Meetup! Last month was so fun we decided to host! We had a nice little set-up going on with our gorgeous shoes, our laptop for making purchases, some cookies, and of course, a gift certificate for the lucky girl with the best stilettos of the evening!

We thought our set-up was pretty cute. I guess we got there a little later than we needed to cause someone took the shelf we were planning on using – but I think it turned out better for it!

We took some of our best shoes from our favorite brands. Can you spot them? From left to right, we have:

We had a lot of fun and we got to crown the winner with the best shoes. After careful deliberation, we chose a gal with some great olive and black shoes from Michael Kors.

Her shoes were gorgeous and she definitely had a great attitude to match!

Yay!

For all you local Charlotte girls, we hope to see you at the next meet-up!

Designer For Less: Valentino Bow d’Orsay Pump Look-a-like

Posted by Lindsay on Tuesday Jul 21, 2009

I absolutely love both of these shoes. Honestly, I must have been a bit out of the loop, because I missed the Valentino version and when I saw the Paris Hilton Senorita – I was in love! Then everyone kept saying it was the Valentino Knock-off and I took a look online, and sure enough! I think the Paris Hilton version is a great affordable option for those of you out there who don’t have an extra $745 laying around. Obviously, the Valentino has all those little details that make it so special – but I like the pink sole on the Paris Hiltons!

Valentino Bow Detailed Patent Leather d’Orsay Pump – Originally $745

Compare to…

Paris Hilton Senorita Heel – Price at $94.99!

PS – We also have it in a stunning blue!!
