Trends We Love: Casual Boots with Heels

You know what I love? A great pair of boots. Especially a great pair of boots I can wear day after day after day. A pair of boots I can walk all over the city in. A pair of boots I can throw on over a nice pair of skinny jeans. A pair of boots that is incredibly comfortable, yet feature enough of a heel that my feet are given a bit of a lift. A 1 or 2 inch heel is perfectly comfortable, and in fact I prefer a low heel to a pair of flats to be quite honest! They are easier to walk in! Tell me I’m not alone in this!

Maybe it’s about the sound. Good shoes should make that “I’m A Woman Wearing Heels!!” sound when you take a step. The size of the heel is irrelevant – I’m not always in the mood to put on 5″ stiletto show-stoppers – but a good pair of boots with a 1 inch or 2 inch heel makes that “Heel Click” sound I love.

Is it wrong that I love the sound of boots so much?! I feel strongly that every pair of boots in my closet should announce their presence with every step regardless of how casual or fancy they are!

The Paris Hilton Ryder boot in brown.
Also available in black.

Personally one of my favorite kinds of boot is the riding-style knee boot – they look fabulous over skinny jeans and can make the most casual outfit look put-together. Knee boots in general have a tendency to pull together any outfit!

We at Heels.com are big fans of Paris Hilton shoes – billionaire style at affordable prices. I think a lot of her shoes are just adorable, and I love the pink soles of course! The blocky heel on this Ryder boot is short enough to be very comfortable, but you’ll look and sound like a boot-loving fashionista walking around in these knee boots.

What could be better than riding boots? Cowboy boots! And my favorite cowboy boot on the site is without question the Silk Boot by BCBG:

The BCBG Silk Boot in Acorn.
Also available in Cuoio and Black.

I can’t express my love for these boots enough. They slouch. The block heel is perfect. It’s high, but not too high. The style is functional, fashionable, and cute. The color is just lovely. BCBG never disappoints, do they?!

In fact, the only thing I don’t like about these boots is that they come in two totally amazing shades of brown (Acorn and Cuoio) and when I get a pair I’ll have to make a seriously tough decision.

Search Heels.com for Riding Boots or Cowboy Boots to see all our wonderful styles! And check out our whole selection of women’s boots while you’re at it – you can always narrow your search down by heel height, color, brand, or size.

Trends We Love: Snake Charmer

If you’re an animal print lover but get tired of cheetah and leopard, slither toward snake skin prints. These styles are great year round and work with dressy or more casual wear. What I like about snake style shoes are that they tend to be more neutral than traditional animal prints so you can wear them with more outfits. Check out my top picks if you’re looking to charm up your outfit in a vicious way.

Trends We Love: Metal Mama

I love love love metallics and I enjoy wearing them day or night. The shiny hues may not be a must have trend for Fall but they are always on my radar. I prefer to wear metallic accessories opposed to clothes. A pop of silver or gold can add life to an otherwise boring ensemble. Try some of these guilty pleasures for your metallic palette.

Trends We Love: Tiered Skirts

Tiered skirts! One of my absolute favorite trends this fall. I love a nice tiered skirt – there are so many ways to wear them. They are wonderfully versatile, combining girly cute and fashionable chic into one package. They can be worn with longer tops, letting the tiers peek out below to emphasize the length of the waist, or with a belt and a tucked-in blouse for that fashionable chic high-waisted look. Another reason why I love tiered skirts? I can wear one to work and then wear it out at night! (Changing my shoes, of course.) A lot of clothes claim to be this versatile, but we ladies know that most outfits aren’t really work- and party-appropriate. Well, a nice tiered skirt can be chic at work and flirty at night!

Without a doubt, my favorite skirt is this one from Topshop (I found it on Polyvore!):

WOW! What a lovely skirt! And the nice thing about Polyvore is that you can see all the different outfits people have made with it.

For work, I would personally pair it with a pair of cute black pumps. Boring, you think? Umm, have you SEEN these fabulous Avallon pumps from Harajuku Lovers?!

Trends We Love: Big Sweaters and Tall Boots

I have a confession to make. I really like mailing lists from my favorite stores. I really, really like them. I don’t really know why… I usually keep my inbox obsessively clean. But I found myself on a bunch of mailing lists thanks to my online shopping habits, and didn’t have the heart to remove myself. It’s like window shopping except it comes right to my inbox!

This popped up in my inbox from Urban Outfitters and I just love the outfit:
urban outfitters

So cute. I have always been a big fan of long tunics, sweaters, shirts, anything I can put over tights in the winter or just over boots in the fall for that sexy look! I especially love the socks- I love putting knee socks or over-the-knee socks under my boots. If you don’t have any over the knee boots yet, putting over-the-knee socks under a pair of knee boots is a great way to style it up this fall.

Those thigh boots boots are the leather Eve Boot by Dolce Vita. They are amazingly sexy, comfortable, and just stunning to look at as well as wear. If you want to get in on the over-the-knee boot trend, you should really pick up a pair. You can get the socks at Sock Dreams.

Here’s another great sweater / boot combo:

Chinese Laundry Tripin Thigh Boot in Toast – Wow, what a great color! So unusual! I want to try these with a pair of dark socks underneath, peeking out from the top.

Trends We Love: Mad For Plaid!

One of the biggest upcoming trends for Fall, is plaid! As we have mentioned before, this is a really fun trend that is super easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. Whether you want to go full out or just add a pop of plaid, its a fun way to bring some of the Upper East Side school-girl to your look.

With Gossip Girl returning, I have been feeling the itch for some plaid in my closet. Although our favorite high school socialites are no longer gracing the halls of Constance and most likely, we will not be seeing much of the traditional plaid uniforms, I believe the Gossip Girl look is still going strong if Anna Sui’s collection for Target is any clue.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the flannel lumber-jack variety of plaid that has been found everywhere for a few seasons. However, I realize a lot people like this look, but I like things that are a bit more feminine. I generally gravitate to the exact school-girl plaid that my sister, like our favorite Gossip Girls, wore to Catholic school everyday.

Some of my favorite picks for incorporating plaid into your wardrobe:

Pair any of these fresh items with a preppy boyfriend blazer, a sweet cardi, colorful tights, and/or a headband, and you are sure to be on-trend for fall – as well as sporting one of my all-time favorite looks!

Trends We Love: My Love Affair With Platforms

According to Wikipedia,  plaform shoes originated in Ancient Greece to give height to “important characters” in Greek theatre and were also worn by high dollar prostitutes during the 16th Century in Venice. Fast forward a few centuries and you’ll find platforms on thousands of heel styles from both high end and more affordable designers.

Platforms have come a long way through the decades taking many shapes, including this over the top pair from the 1970′s.

I prefer the more modern sillouette that echos the style worn centuries ago. The platform paired with a sexy stiletto to me, is the ultimate high heel. I wear heels everyday and if it wasn’t for platforms my feet would need serious medical attention. Not only do platforms add a special edge to shoes but they also add support. Judging by the platform’s rich history, this trend isn’t going anywhere.  Happy Heel Hunting!

I don’t know what it is about Autumn that gives me a sense of starting over. Perhaps it’s the leaves falling on the ground, the smell of football in the air or the cooler, brisk mornings that come with the season.

When I was a child my favorite part of going back to school was getting a new school wardrobe and choosing the perfect outfit for the first day of class. So, in the spirit of Fall Fashion, here are my top must-haves that won’t leave your pocketbook empty.

When I think of the Carrie Bradshaw character on Sex and the City, I think of her iconic flower look that she wore on numerous episodes of the series and the dress she donned in the SATC Movie.

Even though it’s been more than a year since the release of the movie, we’re seeing a come back in the large flower style but this time in fabulous footwear. Below are my top choices if you’re inspired by Carrie’s fashion down to your toes.

I don’t know about you but the sheer notion of wearing a bird on your feet sounds just plain silly to me. But you’ll think twice after seeing these plume detailed creations.

Whether they’re real or not, these feathers add a fluttering design that give your feet their own fashion wings. Here’s wishing you a happy flight!
