Hi Shoe Fans!  While Cognac can be an old man’s after dinner drink, it is also one of the hottest shoe colors of this season.   This rich brown hue is not only beautiful but also versatile as it can compliment a wide range of color schemes.  Here are a few of my favorite Cognac styles.

Rounded Toe High Heeled Halpern Knee Boots from Michael Antonio

Platform Juno Stiletto Pumps from Report Signature

Style Inspiration: Award Winning Movie Inspired Shoes

Posted by Ellen on Tuesday Feb 1, 2011

Hey Shoe Fans!  I think it is safe to say that awards season is in full swing.  With the Critics Choice Awards & Golden Globes a few weeks ago and then the SAG Awards this past weekend, our favorite movies of the year are raking in the statues by the truckload.  I’ve taken some time to choose a few Award Winning Movie Inspired Shoes that I think you will like.

First up is one of my personal favorite movies of the year, Black SwanNatalie Portman has swept all 3 major awards shows in the favorite actress category thus far and is favored to take home the Academy Award for her portrayal of the neurotic Ballerina, Nina Sayers.

If you can’t get enough of her demented dancer look, I suggest you try these:

Black Tulle Platform Fifi Sandals from Steve Madden

There is no denying the impact that www.Facebook.com has on our daily lives.  I will even post a link to this blog on Facebook when it is finished (like I always do).  And of course this year’s movie about Facebook was a monster hit with fans and nominating committees alike.  The Social Network tells the story of its inception.

Facebook is known for its simple, classic, blue logo.  If you are searching for the same thing in your footwear, take a look at these:

Navy Suede Embellished Platform Pumps from Paris Hilton

I have to admit when I first saw previews of The Fighter, I thought it would be a typical guy-sports movie that I wouldn’t really care for.  I am so glad that my best male friend convinced me to see it with him selling me on the fact that I could stare at Mark Wahlberg shirtless for the better part of two hours.  I am happy to say that I had this film pegged all wrong and I enjoyed watching the plot unfold (as well as the muscles) very much.

If you want to Knock-Out the fashion competition with some boxing glove footwear, lace up these:

Distressed Grey Side Saddle Booties from Not Rated

One film that is still on my list to watch before the Oscars roll around is The King’s SpeechColin Firth‘s performance as King George VI has earned him Best Leading Actor accolades in the first 3 major award shows of the season so of course he is a favorite to take home the Academy Award as well.

If you are searching for footwear that is worthy of the Royal Family a la 1939, you must take a look at these:

Lacey Chestnut Black Mapple Pumps from Pour La Victoire

The re-make of classic cowboy/western True Grit has brought this genre back to life.  Breakout star Hailee Steinfeld is fierce in this film as she tries to avenge her father’s death.  I predict a bright future ahead for this shining new star.

If you need a rugged boot that is still sleek and fashionable, you have to get your hands on these:

Leather Charcoal 15R Harness Boots from Frye

Hey Shoe Fans!   I’ve got three more dance inspired shoes styles for you on this lovely Tuesday.  Let’s check them out!

Broadway and Musical Theater numbers hold a special place in my heart.  Hearing a classic tune to an old movie or stage production can magically transport you back to a memorable place and time.  Take a look at this shoe that is used in the most recent Broadway production of 42nd Street.

Leather T-Strap 2-Toned Capezio Lido

You are sure to be a Star of the Great White Way in these.

Gold Leather T-Strap Zyla Pumps with Double Buckle from Modern Vintage

The Cha-Cha-Cha style of Latin Ballroom dance is easily the most fun and pretty easy to learn in my opinion.  With a 4/4 time signature and syncopated rhythms it is also very recognizable.  The perfect amount of flirty-ness and flair are hard to deny while cutting a rug in these.

Metallic 3″ Capezio Latina

There is no doubt that these will also keep you on your toes.

Silver Strappy Sicily Sandals from Hale Bob

Coming in at a very close 2nd, of my favorite style of dance to perform, is Jazz.  Whether it is character driven or super stylized, there is such a wide range of Jazzy interpretations under this genre umbrella that are too much fun.  This sleek and sexy Jazz shoe is perfect for any cool cat.

Black Leather “E” Series Capezio Jazz Oxford

I dare you not to have “Jazz Hands” when you feast your eyes on these

Black Leather Wing-Tip Tuxxedo Flats from Steve Madden

Did you know that Halloween originally started out as a Christian holiday?  The tradition of dressing up in costumes comes from the ancient Celts.  They believed that this time of year the border between the afterlife and this world is weakened and spirits could pass through and harm them.  So they would in turn dress in masks to keep the bad spirits away.

Ok enough History;  Let’s get on to the Costumes and Shoes!

First up is another classic that returns time after time.  The Cowgirl costume is also good to have on hand for any western themed parties that can happen all throughout the year.  Plus cowboy boots never go out of style.

You’ll shout “Giddy Up!” when you feast your eyes on these

Brown Suede Linus Cowboy Boots from Bronx

Next up we have the ever popular Gangster.  No, I”m not talking about being a GangstA for Halloween;  I’m talking about being a Mobster a’la Al Capone.  Machine Guns, Pocket Watches, and Fedoras are the perfect accessories to bring this look together.

Get your Gangster strut on while wearing these

Patent Leather Black and Bone Canny Spectator Heels from Charles David

One of the biggest stars on the planet right now is Lady Gaga.  I’ve seen pictures of the fans that go to her concerts and dress like her and the homemade costumes are fabulous.  One of my personal favorite looks that she has worn is most definitely the “Bubble Dress.”  I better see someone wearing this out on  Halloween.

Pull out all the stops for the avant garde look with these

Glittering Platform Blush Wowww Wedges from Steve Madden

Are you still debating on what to dress yourself as this Halloween?  Have no fear, because I have 3 more trendy costume ideas and the perfect footwear to bring your look together.  Did I mention that these shoes are so fabulous, you might not want to wait till Halloween to wear them?

First up is Pocahontas.  While I am pretty sure most costumes like this are most likely nowhere near historically accurate, there are lots of extra accessories that can lend to this Native American inspired ensemble.

You’ll feel right at home in the wilderness while you are wearing these

Cognac Leather Braided Kasidy Sandals from Steve Madden

Next up is the most undeniably popular costume for this year.  Vampires have infiltrated almost every aspect of pop culture and media lately, so don’t do the boring old Dracula style.  Instead, try something more up-to-date like this costume.

Courtesy:  SexyCostumes.com

You can prey on your dinner with ease while Vamping it up in these

Black Mesh Fabric Hide and Seek Open Toe Bootie from Chinese Laundry

Being one of the hottest TV shows of the year automatically means that people will want to emulate their favorite characters from the small screen on All Hallows Eve.  Besides Mad Men being a fan favorite, it has also won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series for the past 3 years.  This show’s 3 leading ladies always look impeccable on-screen and off.

You can totally rock this Retro style in these

Houndstooth Pony Hair and Red Patent Peep Toe In The Park Pumps from Naughty Monkey

Without a doubt the sexiest Fall Trend on my list is the Corset look.  I know you may be thinking that this style belongs in the bedroom, but with casual fabrics these pieces won’t make you look like a porn star.

For instance, I came across this fabulous Denim Corset at Charlotte Russe for only $24.  This could match almost anything in my closet!

If you want some Corset inspiration in you footwear, you have to consider these

From fabulous flats to strappy stilettos this time of year when temperatures are on the cusp of changing, footwear is versatile. When celebs step out in ‘it’ styles of the moment, we get plenty of emails from fans wanting to know where they can find these coveted looks. While many of us can’t afford the same shoe styles celebs rock, there’s no need to sink into a fashion depression. Here’s a cheat sheet to some of our favorite Heels.com looks that resemble what some stars are wearing.

Bebe Soccorro Heel

This Desperate Housewife looks anything but…in her simple yet sophisticated ensemble. I love the contrast of the blazer to the open toe sandals Eva is wearing. Our version comes from Bebe, with a simple leather strap across the vamp and a super chic metallic stiletto heel. This style is perfect for day or night; casual or dressy.

Brittany Snow

Steve Madden Caryssa Pump

Brittany mellows out her flowery romper with luxe suede pumps and a brown belt. Our pick comes from Steve Madden with a perfect silhouette that features a sky high platform and shiny heel. This nude tone goes with almost anything in your closet and the suede makes it a perfect choice for the upcoming Fall season.

Jessica Biel

Steve Madden Blend

Stars need a break from towering heels, just like us and sometimes a simple ballet flat is just the ticket. Jessica pairs a beige toned style with her business casual attire that offers a feminine flair. Our version from Steve Madden gives you a little edge with a subtle wedge that won’t leave you hanging too low to the ground.
